This Saturday I had the pleasure of speaking to Pagan Chaplain and Cherry Hill alumna Wes Isley, about his work. This was a discussion via zoom open and free to all. Wes is incredibly engaging I could have talk to him for hours.
If we could choose a word to describe Beltaine, it would probably be “fertility”. In the northern hemisphere, spring has sprung in its myriad forms. Has spring sprung in you? What projects are you contemplating? Take a moment on a nice day soon and spend some time outside, breathing deep and thinking about these questions.
I am sure many of you are missing the sweetness of in-person ritual and spiritual community. Perhaps at least you can take a moment to just be. While ritual and formal ceremony can be exciting and rewarding, so too can the sacredness of everyday. Here is a simple prayer you might say today.
“Now more than ever I celebrate what I have and what I and my community have survived. Joy and hope are radical states of being. “
How quickly in a pandemic does every little statement become a cliche. It is an ambiguous time at least for me and so to assign any other adjective would be inaccurate from where I am. But we witches are good with duality, confusion, suspension of normalcy. If you are also, like me, a Scorpio and an introvert, then you may even be thriving. Which is weird and feels wrong. Still, heartache visits me and it's often unexpected. I hope I am wise enough to let myself crumple at those times. Otherwise I get on with things because I am privileged enough to do so. And I spend much headspace trying figure out how to do what I can even when doing what I can seems at the moment to do nothing.
At least I can offer you some things that might pass the time or ease the tension. So here they are. My course Introduction to Magical Art Journaling is now free, so too is my zine Art Magick for Witches along with a bunch of other printables. I have also launched a new journal, Mountain Witch which I hope you will look over and, if you feel inclined, will send your creations for possible inclusion. I am more than happy to pledge free resources with love and hope for a better world. I want to thank you all for continuing to come here and see what's going on.
Sincerely with my blessings.
