About the Classes
All three workshops are free but you must purchase materials for the workshop through this website to reserve you place. Each workshop kit is $20 and you receive it when you attend the workshop. Each class is suitable for beginners. |
About the Teacher
Liz Watkin is a fiber artist as well as being an adult educator for over twenty years. She has lived in the Burton St. neighborhood for thirteen years, volunteering in the community in a variety of roles. |
Beginner Embroidery Class
Thursday October 24th, 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm How to get started with a kit and some simple stitches. Time: 2 hours Cost free with purchase of a kit. Come and learn how to use a kit to complete a community inspired embroidery project. We will look at everything from threading a needle, using an embroidery hoop, to the stitches required to create the design. All materials and tools provided. |
Beginner Slow Stitching Class
Thursday November 14th, 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm Create unique fiber art pieces using embroidery, patchwork and other hand sewing techniques Time: 2 hours Cost free with purchase of a kit. In this class we will make original textile based pieces of art that can be displayed, worn or given as gifts. We will practice lots of techniques using scraps of fabric and embroidery floss. All materials and tools provided. |
Make a Holiday Wreath
Thursday December 12th, 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm Use beadwork, embroidery, applique and other hand sewing techniques to make beautiful reusable wreaths. Time: 2 hours Cost free with purchase of a kit. Come and make a wreath to display in your home for the holidays or give as a gift using embroidery, beads and other decorations. All materials and tools provided. |
