Solstice Sun Mono Prints
Mono printing is a method of printing where you make one copy from your design. It is very simple to do and rewarding for children and adults too! Suns are one of the easiest designs but you could try all sorts of pictures and patterns. We used laminate sheets but some greetings cards come in a plastic box that are often great for this too if you cut one side out so it can sit flat on the table. Be careful doing this, the plastic can have sharp edges once cut.
Tip 1: Cut large pieces of paper smaller so that you can make more. My daughter LOVED this and made so many prints that you can end with a big stack of papers very quickly.
Tip 2: Be really experimental. The magic is in the fact that you don’t really know what the print will look like, there is no such thing as a mistake!
Tip 3: The paint washes off the plastic panel easily but needs some time to dry. Set up several if your child gets in a groove and doesn’t want to wait for the panel to dry.
Tip 4: This activity can be adapted to different sabbats and holidays such as pumpkins at Samhain.
